EXHAUST TUNING EXPLAINED

When the exhaust valves open, a pressure wave is generated at the same time gasses begin to flow down the pipe. Gasses flow at about 350 feet per second, but the pressure wave travels much faster - at about the speed of sound - and is dependent on gas temperature. By changing length or diameter you can adjust how fast these two will travel down the system before returning part of their energy back to the port, which determines the power band.

MRD has been producing racing components for many types of engines for over 20 years.

Our stainless steel exhaust systems give you more power, lighter weights, and look trick!

Reasons Stainless Steel is the best material for constructing exhaust pipes:

  1. Stainless steel has a much lower coefficient of thermal conductivity (it holds more heat inside). This helps to maintain high exhaust velocity increasing scavenging (you may have seen headers wrapped or thermal coated to keep heat inside for more power). Stainless steel does this naturally.
  2. Stainless Steel does not rust, and is very tough (will not dent as easily as titanium).
  3. Stainless Steel is less expensive than titanium.
